I don't think we'll be able to listen to it tonight as it generally doesn't go on the site until much past my bedtime.

In vaguely game related news, my offer on a house has been accepted so that means I'm going to be able to get a new television and play Mass Effect.

OR

Brand new 120GB Xbox 360 Elite + Anal Wank bundle

[Confused]

Are the new ones less likely to break?

Yeah. You'll also get a warranty, which you'll wish you paid for when your £120 machine RRoDs.

RROD is like a right of passage for any 360 owner. It's like you don't really feel like a proper xbox gamer until you get your first RROD. Now I come to think of it - you could make a comparison between RROD and getting your brown wings badge.

Fuck, I don't want a RROD! I don't think I really want an Xbox, either. It'd turn me into that idiot who owns all the consoles.

At least I don't have an iPhone/Pod/Pad.

Everyone in London seems to have an iPhone. Everyone. Even I have an old one without a SIM in it, which I keep by my bed to check my email each morning, to know whether I need to get up and do some work or can go back to sleep.

your life sounds like it's going off the rails mart. Or has your girlfriend, the actor, hit the big time now and you no longer have to bring in money?

No no, it's ok, everyone's a bit worried the first time, you just need to get into it a bit, you know, play around for a while, let things get a bit heated, before you know it you'll have your first RROD... Then, the next time it happens, you'll know it's not such a big deal as you made it out to be in your head.

I have a Nokia N95. This might be because I don't live in London though. Perhaps I would need one if i moved to London, which i'm not going to do.

I've got one of those too - an 8GB one in fact. I found it down by the dustbin one morning, with some pretty nasty homemade porn on it.

Mine is also 8GB. It has every episode of the Controller Throw podcast on it as well as a load of Italian lessons so anyone who found it would be really lucky. Not as lucky as you with your homemade porn.

It wasn't my homemade porn. But a quick scan through the SMS history left me with few doubts as to the identities of the stars in question. I thought about calling the guy to ask if his infection had cleared up yet.

Got a black one with Alan Wake and Forza 3 in the end.

Wake is knowingly cheesy. The environment graphics are amazing (particularly the lighting of course) but the characters' faces and the lip-synching are terrible. I reckon 2003's Mafia had more realistic facial animation. The plot so far seems to be an amalgamation of Steven King novels with some Twin Peaks and X-Files thrown in. The game name checks King at the beginning, and mentions The Shining when an adversary takes an axe to the door. Good atmosphere, but very repetetive gameplay so far. I'm hoping the later chapters add a bit more variety.

Forza's pretty great though. I'm picking up new cars left right and centre - currently using a Lotus Elise. I've been offered an xbox 360 wheel for £20. Anyone used one?

So what else does TMO consider worth buying for the 360? I'm thinking of the Mass Effect games.

Anything else?

If you like RPGs, Lost Odyssey is pretty good.

viva Pinata is a lot of fun although it looks as if it is geared towards kids it is a good game.

If you haven't played them, Bioshock and Bishock 2 are very good.

I wouldn't bother with Oblivion, Fallout3 or Dragon Age:Origins as they're all meant to be much better on the PC and I believe you have a gaming PC.

I probably wouldn't bother with Halo 3 as it is probably worth waiting for Halo:Reach now.

Guitar Hero 3 is excellent. Really really excellent.

Yeah, but you might as well get Halo 3 now, because it's pretty much the only game that everyone else has got, and it's probably cheap. Reach BETA is excellent, but when's the game actually out? - Autumn... Get Halo 3 now, or even a copy of Halo ODST instead (actually ODST is only £14.99 anyway and comes with the Halo 3 multiplayer and full maps plus you get to play the Halo Reach Beta too.)

halo ODST £14.99 amazon url

I've already finished Fallout 3 (and the Bioshocks) on PS3. No interest whatsoever in Halo.

Trials HD looks good though, and Lost Odyssey could well be worth a look.

You need to get a Halo game so that you can play online with us. It's a great evening where we lost by a few points and would win easily if anyone else was nearly as good as Tilde and Ringo sits there going "Nah man, I've gone out and bought the game so that we can play online, but I'm busy playing Mass Effect instead"

to be fair to Ringo, last time I played Halo 3 with him it was a all against all match, with Me and Triforce, Mikee dropped out unexplainedly before the match.

Ringo was playing his first game and he was really struggling with the controls. At one point I stood directly in front of him and just danced around while he unloaded at me, failing to knock down my shields. After about three rounds or ammo, I think I lobbed a sticky at him to put him out of his misery.

(after that we played Halo HAHAHA)

I felt his pain, as I too was once a Noob, but still Benway egged me on though my earpiece. Telling me Ringo deserved total humiliation for what he did to him in Forza.

I'm not really down with that whole 'paying to play online' thing. Or the 'playing online' thing, tbh.
