I took the pic of you in the car and dicked about with it in Photoshop (just adding contrast and stuff), and then a fancy plug-in, and then I tried to make it come on the internet, but Misc's hosting thing was down, and I gave up.
It's not very good or amazingly different, so don't worry about it.
Buzz me on msn or something at some point and I'll send it to you. Or don't bother.
And Amy I'm sorry about helmut. I was just being playful, as I liked the look of the word.

Mart, I'll be on MSN most of the day so just give me a shout when you're around
Wayne, they run these events twice a month at Santa Pod, one on a Wednesday, one on a Saturday, so I'm sure if you're in the UK at some point next year you'd be able to come along to one if you wanted. It's only £5 to spectate.
I'm going to do my best to be at as many as possible as there's a chance I'm going to be involved in a team drift demonstration at the MX5 anniversary event next year.

you may assume correctly, ralph. and I know who jimmy is...considering I've been posting here forever ( and originally on seethru, thankyouverymuch. )
Ringers, if I were in the uk, would I be able to ride with you? What I mean is: can anyone be a passenger ?

Yeah for sure, you could come out for a ride. I can't guarantee you'd totally enjoy it, it's quite a physically unpleasant experience

slayer, sepultura, napalm death, sick of it all, or any other death metal band. I actually saw the latter three at one show when I was 16. Oh, the bruises I had the next day!
Sounds like fun, ringo.
I'd probably be scared to death, but I bet it's thrilling.

Most of the discomfort stems from the fact that the surface at Santa Pod where I do my drifting is a combination of rough old carpark areas and fresh tarmac, with massive bumps between the joins, and the odd recessed drain cover. Plus I have absolutely rock hard suspension so riding the bumps is quite a violent experience.
But yeah, totally exciting and occasionally hilarious.
I'm going again next Wednesday actually. Doing loads of drifting was one of my resolutions for 2008 and I think I've done it brilliantly. Next year I'm going to make it my goal to gain a drift competition licence

Yeah it's all a bit messy to be honest because there are so many drift series about, but here in the UK there are two main series which is the BDC and the EDC (British Driting Championship and European respectively) with the BDC being seen as the lower level event. The real difference between the two is that BDC has amateur classes as well as pro. Basically Am regs don't require as much safety kit for the car, but it prevents you from being able to place at the higher levels because you aren't able to compete in all rounds.
To compete at all you need a BDC licence which stats at Am level - really this is fairly basic - turn up to the licence event and go out onto the course, put in a few solid runs to show that you can make it round the track in a controlled fashion without spinning all the time, that's basically all you need to do. For the full BDC licence you are required to hit specific clipping points through the corners and achieve a certain minimum standard over a judged run. For licencing you can use any car, it doesn't need to meet the safety standards for either the Am or Pro classes.
Not that my car really needs a lot of work to get it to basic Am standards. Just a few electrical cutoff switches, a hard top, and bonnet catches is all I'd need as I already have a rollcage, bucket seats, harnesses etc.

1. Jeans, white t-shirt with Antelope Boy on the front.
2. Lunch- chicken schnitzel I imagine, if I can be fucked to leave the house.
3. Tonight - gym, then going to the theatre bar in town for some drinks. Should be okay, but I need to take it easy. Tomorrow going to see Louise's folks in the morning, then in the evening I'll be drinking again, this time with some ex-forumites. Sunday I have to write something for somebody, and I'd like to get some GoW2 in.
4. Watched feardotcom last night. Shit.
5. Last album was a Todd Barry comedy album. I liked it. Been listening to quite a bit of American comedy recently... Patton Oswalt, Todd Barry, Zach Galifianakis, Jimmy Pardo.
6. Last e-mail (to my personal account) was my agency reminding me to get my timesheet in on time. Bleak. Last work email was a developer thanking me for sending him some analysis of a java console log. Also bleak.

Wearing - Jeans, Blue T-shirt that was sent to me by Froopyscot, Stripy jumper.
Lunch - Pint of Guinness and perhaps a prawn sandwich and a chicken and mushroom pasty.
Film - I tried to watch Run Fatboy Run but the disc wasn't in the box and I couldn't find it. I'm sure it's somewhere, but i don't know where.
Weekend - No idea! Perhaps some gaming. Anyone up for gaming?
Last e-mail to personal account - confirmation from an online jewellery thing that my order had been placed. Last one to work account was some very dull statistics.
I can't remember the other questions. I'm feeling a bit hungry now as I haven't eaten yet today. Lunch soon, and then I've only got about an hour of work after lunch. Hoorah.

I am wearing a jumper with holes in the sleeve. Tramp chic. It is ok though because they got there through many years of wear rather than as a pre-engineered look like the battered old boots from All Saints.
This weekend I have absurdly too much stuff to do, which can be summarised thus . . .30th birthday (not mine), help someone move house, xmas lunch with housemates (vegan), ‘amusing’ xmas knitwear and cocktail party, work on grant proposal, cross country running, ‘ironic’ xmas dinner in local JD Wetherspoons with 50 friends.

I was wondering the other day at what point I crossed over from a sort of Tramp Chic to just looking and dressing like shit. It's age related, I'm sure but at one point wearing combats and gig t-shirts seemed like some sort of statement. Now it just looks like I can't afford clothes.

That was '94 - '96. Great times. In fact, do you remember that story I told about the girl who punched me in that face after I'd sexually assaulted her? That night, I was wearing a Nailbomb t-shirt, urban camo combats and some boots. At a disco!
