Black Mask

ben was right. What we need on here is some macho posturing. It's time we all went armed. Time to get tooled up. Let's fetishise violence, at least until we get bored with it.

I want one of these, mainly because my Action Man had one.

Simply because as a kid I was obsessed with ninjas and the whole martial arts thing, and nunchuks in particular are great fun to use, albeit painful if you use anything other than rubber training ones while being crap enough to hit yourself repeatedly while trying to fancy routines with them. Not that I speak from experience of course, ahem...

Admittedly, not a lot of help when you're getting the shit kicked out of you, but I'm scared of guns [Frown]

in romelet and julio at the the globule theatre there is a really cool bit at the beginning of mercutio (played by a man who is a cross between the blonde repellent man off attachments and my old gay supervisor at my last job) and tybalt (who is cutecutecute!) where tybalt produces this beautiful bollock knife from his belt and weields it threateningly in the air. suddenly he presses a button and four extra blades snickersnack out from behind the main blade. in an extremely funny bit of anachronism mercutio squeals coool!, like a 17 year old, before leaping into an enguarde position and then they do a bigge fighte and its all very homoerotic and worth the 5 poun admission every time.

And thanks to the forthcoming expiration of the Assault Weapons Ban, we'll be seeing lots more of those here in the states soon! I'm so excited! Which should I buy, the AK47 or the machine pistol with foldable stock? However did I survive without a high powered automatic firearm? [Roll Eyes]

I got the strong impression that Tybalt was being potrayed as a flash wanker for having this type of fancy dagger, and that Mercutio was mocking him -- I'm sure there are speeches from Mercutio in the play itself where he takes the piss out of pretentious fashions. On the nite I saw it, Mercutio held his hand up with the fingers split to resemble Tybalt's three-way, to get a laugh from his pals and the audience. But you have probably seen it many times and perhaps the performance has actually changed since my one visit.

ive seen other bits of the first half dozens of times but that bit only the once, unfortunately. considering i had a very poor view of the stage and mercutio had his back to me i will defer to your interpretation of it.

I already have the following sharps (in chronological order, for living history & theatrical purposes of course):

Estoc (sword)
Baselard (dagger)
Rondel (dagger)
Messer (large dagger)
C17th Spring-loaded Parrying Dagger
1796 Heavy Cavalry Sabre

And the following in rebated (blunted for practice):

Bastard Sword
Bollock Dagger
Baselard
C16th Schweihander
C17th Rapier & Dagger
C18th Smallsword

Not to mention my Footman's Mace or Maul, English Bill, 2 longbows and a sheaf of assorted arrows.

So I don't need no more of your pointy shit. I need one of these:
