That would make it an altogether different type of presentation, and perhaps slightly more interesting! --------------------uberwench

Yes, what we expect them to do - the following slide is "What we expect [of / from] the health care professional" --------------------uberwench

Wouldn't FOR be what we want for them? Here is what we expect of / from asthma sufferers - Attend regular review - Work with their health care practitioner to understand the consequences of their actions - Get the most from their consultation --------------------uberwench

In the case of the asthma sufferes you're talking about your expectations. In the case of the carers you're talking about their participation and contribution. -------------------- sweet

Shouldn't the asthma sufferers be the ones doing the expecting?

It took a mighty big thread to topple the French cuisine debate but Oobs pulled it out of the hat. -------------------- sweet

Here is what we expect from the asthma patient ? - Attend regular review - Work with their health care practitioner to understand the consequences of their actions - Get the most from their consultation OF makes it sound like we expect them to do this, as in be wheezy and squeak. FROM makes it sound like in return for treatment [ 05.07.2005, 06:44: Message edited by: Darryn.R ] -------------------- my own brother a god dam shit sucking vampire!!! you wait till mum finds out buddy!

I don't know. 'Expect of' in this case seems like a mealy-mouthed way of saying 'What we need them to do is...'

What we expect of them = that which they would be expected to do What we expect from them = that which they would be expected to provide

I hope there's no asthma sufferers reading this thread. It's just the sort of thing that sets them off.

I had to go with "of" in the end. It was written by Asthma UK, a presentation on "Controlling Asthma: the patients perspective" in case you were desperate to know. Thanks for all your help though. --------------------uberwench

Your post is confusing - I suspect you might mean the opposite of what you've written. Await confirmation.

It's true, and dang's right. They wouldn't be having a debate like this in France. They'd all be lying around in their own filth, snorting runny cheese and sucking off their children, having a whale of a time. -------------------- sweet
