Scrawny - When I'm allowed to leave the building, whenever that may be, if it's any easier for you to get to then you're welcome to come to my flat as I think it's nearer to your office than trying to get back to South London?

Yeah, that seems to be the case down here. There's a lot of police kerfuffle outside Lunar house, but nothing's actually happened.

You are going to get a lot of reports of these as people flee they will leave stuff behind. Basically the UK is on the highest state of alert since lord knows when, and every package, no matter how insignificant is suspect.
Just spoken to my sister who is a senior controller for the Essex Fire Brigade, and she said that it is no surprise that the underground has been targetted as it is so insecure.
One point - don't you find it bizarre that the day after London wins the Games, this happens - I wonder if the same would have occurred if one of the other cities had suceeded?
scrawny
One Mojito, two Gin and Tonics, Three Bacardi Lime Sodas, and a couple of pints of Stella please.

Thanks hon. This may well be the case- we'l see how today pans out.
The terrifying thing about places like Swindon being shut off is that you start to believe everyone's a target. I mean, a terrorist attack on Primrose Hill would be really kind of crap, but I'm still frightened.

Can't get into B3TA. There seems to be a more and more reduced time between news breaking and piss taking these days. In fact, they probably had the parody pics up before any genuine news photos appeared.

Who needs made up humour in the face of adversity when Ian Blair talks to Sky News and says "There's a carefully rehearsed emergency programme swinging into action..." only to be interupted by a journo to tell him - "Mr Blair, you've moved away from the microphone and no one can hear you."

For light relief, I'm sitting here remembering 9/11 and how we all bonded that day and how much this little community and you guys and girls really do mean to me when the post arrived.

Something which has struck me twice now:
An eyewitness on the BBC site said he'd never seen so many police as there were outside the closed Tube stations.
A radio reporter outside one of the hospitals just said the casualties are being dealt with by "a huge number of medical staff who were waiting for them".
Where do all these people come from? Are there huge TV and snooker rooms somewhere, packed out with coppers and nurses sitting around smoking and drinking tea until, one day, something like this kicks off and they all leap into a fleet of vans and rush to the scene?

This is fucked up, I'm staggered that the people around me can actually focus on work when this is going on.. Our head office in Golden Square have been confined to the building and all on-street operatives have been recalled I believe. Jesus fucking christ.

It had been planned for me to go into London today, but my designer hadn't finished off a bunch of graphics and so I am working from home. My route would usually involve changing at King's Cross and arriving at Old Street where according to the BBC site two of the blasts had gone off.
This is terrifying in the extreme, and exposes the really quite soft underbelly of our allegedly secure capital city. I can see something approaching a complete security lockdown now - something that those responsible for today's incidents must be rubbing their hands at. Fuckers.

I heard that the devices used were small explosives designed to cause disruption rather than death, and therefore unlikely to be Al Queeda. I dunno. So many mixed messages.

Yes. There's a police one near Guildhall. I don't know about the ambulances. PS I'm not kidding.

Apparently they're evacuating the building next to mine, and there are police all along Exhibition Road and Hyde Park is being cordoned off.
I've never been at work when something like this has happened, it seems weird not being at home to watch it on the news.
