In major incidents like this they have contingency planning to call in all available forces and staff, and also all reserve staff. You will also get assistance from neighbouring forces - I'm still waiting to hear if my sister is being called back from holiday.

Ace. Imagine if you'd just shoplifted a shirt from Next and there was some wheezy 80-year-old security guard chasing after you and you thought, heh, no worries, I'll just cut through this door here... Woah!

Medical staff taking supplies into the tube stations, using anything they can get their hands on - plastic bags, bin bags, etc. Seems they all just grabbed whatever supplies available at places like the urology centre and headed down into the stations, where there are obviously still people down there...

I've never been at work when something like this has happened, it seems weird not being at home to watch it on the news.
I'm just next to Hyde Park and there's no cordoning off going on. Amazingly people are getting on with their lives... lots of joggers and dog walkers etc...
There are hundreds of people walking to work but amazingly there are still massive queues for buses... not a chance you'd get me on one of those today!

I'm ok. Got evacuated at Euston and got a phone call to from a friend watching the news to get off the bus. Didn't quite know what to do so walked the rest of the way to work. I left at 8.10pm.

My thoughts go out to all in London today. The fear and worry is contagious; even though my brother works at London Bridge and commutes in from Croydon without using underground or bus services, I was still nervous until I heard that he was OK. Now have displaced this with worrying about my friends, a lot of whom go up to London for meetings quite regularly by train and who would be likely to go through Edgware Road at about the time of the explosions. I've heard from a couple of them but the others haven't responded to email yet.

Thing is, you don't know what's going on do you? When I left someone told me there was one explosion on the Victoria line at finsbury park so I walked into work just round the corner from Old Street and Liverpool Street. If I'd had all the details I would have gone straight back home! Now I'm stuck in my office, not allowed out to go back home and I can't get hold of my boyfriend. Although why the FUCK did they just allowed a delivery of flowers into the office? No-one allowed in or out of the building, and nothing can get across London apart from a bunch of flowers?!

i just heard someone on radio 4 saying that in incidents like this the least wounded are the first to be brought out due to their mobility and the seriously wounded sometimes take hours to emerge.
also - people taking pictures of this on their mobiles!

The Army have been called in - hearing reports of officers in Fatigues looking out over London.
Great to see people in Hyde Park just carrying on, jogging and the like - its this sort of defiance that will ensure these bastards will not win at their war.

My guess, reporting fucked. Israel probably called Scotland Yard.

No idea, just something I was told by my "media source" and thought I'd post.

Reckon I must have been walking through Liverpool St. station when the 1st one went off. Heard nowt. First time I have been on time for weeks. If I had have got normal train would have been at home now. Fuck knows how I am going to get home. All the ways I would walk guaranteed to be no go areas. Still everyone I know is alright which is a relief.

Aye, the nurses I worked with were talking and look worried so I tried to lament that it would be important to remain upbeat and positive. My boss has changed into her uniform and gone out on emergency and I felt a really gay tingle of pride.
It’s reasonably clear that there have been a series of terrorist attacks in London. There have obviously been casualties. Our thoughts with families.
My intention to leave the G8 and go to London to receive a report and then return to G8 this evening.
G8 continuing in my absence. Continue to discuss the issues we were going to discuss.
Each of the leaders have experience of this kind of shnizzle and we are going to share later.
Particularly barbaric that this has happened on a day when meeting to help problems in Africa and long term environmental problems.
Reasonably clear it is designed to coincide with the opening of the G8
Time to talk later about this. It’s important however that those engaged in terrorism realise that our determination to defend our values and way of life is greater than their determination to cause death and destruction in a desire to…
Whatever they do, they will never succeed in destroying what we and other countries hold dear.

Lots of activity at East Croydon. From my office I can see several buses stopped and surrounded by ambulances and police. Ambulance doors are open. Unfortunately its too far away to make out any details.

I think that, in anyone else, the vocal. tic. of. pausing. would come across clearly as the shock it obviously is. Because Blair always does that, the impact is lost.
Mind you, what the hell can he say?

Staying indoors at the moment, using landlines rather than mobiles/texts, giving blood if we can.

There's a bunch of trams lined up out side my office. I think that's just part of closing down the transport system though.
eta: I also thought Blair came across well. I know it's not fashionable to say it, but he seemed genuine and honest. It's also a big step to duck out of G8 to see to the problems on his doorstep.
