one of the suicide bombers was shot before he/she detonated, hence six explosions instead of the numerologically significant seven. Seven bombings on the seventh of the seventh - this is certainly the work of a religious group, realistically probably Islamic (al'Q, Hezbollah etc.) but could be any other religion that uses the Old Testament.

AAARRRGGGHHH!!! For some reason I seem to be able to receive texts at the moment (from people asking if I and others are okay) but I can't send any message out to let them know.
This is seriously fucked.
UCH saying the injuries are "in the tens rather than the hundreds so far", but bear in mind that's one of only three main hospitals taking in casualties.

I just quoted it because it's so mental - ye seven bombs on ye seventh day of ye seventh month, just like it sayeth in ye Old Testament!
I got it from a cycling forum which I read most days, and which is usually to be relied on for it's rational and pragmatic postings. Except for today.

I've heard from someone who got an email from someone's mate who says their friend has a friend who saw it happen... that a suicide bomber was shot dead at Canary Wharf.

Glad to hear everyone's all right... I was following the developments with some irritation on my way in to the office this morning.
The news radio kept saying a series of explosions in central london, numerous casualties, no details yet, and now on to sports! in a gratingly cheery tone.

Glad all you Londoners are ok - I assume you all are from what's been posted on this page, the p(r)oxy server won't let any of the previous pages display.

glad to see youre all checking in safe and sound. i just nearly threw an epi because they werent able to charge my mobile at the orange shop in broadmead, and the nearest branch is at cribbs causeway.
reasons to leave london: big fuck off bombs
reasons to stay in london: my chosen mobile operator has fewer branches

Seems they're being very cautious in releasing statistics on the number of people affected, particularly injured/killed statistics - is this true of the local coverage also?
I ask because the news operations on this side tend to quote figures as early as possible - I remember some "news" programs speculating as high as 16 or 20 thousand on nine-eleven - so I have to admit the apparent hesitancy to quote figures seems quite a surprisingly responsible and welcome difference.

froop - i think it's just cause they don't know... the rescue operation is still going on in the tube stations; there are still people trapped down there...
On my way home - I thankfully decided not to attempt a bus trip from London Bridge to Hammersmith - a women gleefully announced to me on the train "It's terrorists annoyed about the Olympics, isn't it exciting!" Umm...no.

My building got evacuated about two hours ago. They didn't set off the usual fire alarm, a bloke from Security just ran down the corridors yelling for everyone to get out. It was pretty fucking scary.
There are conflicting reports- a bomb scare in the Tanaka Building, or a controlled explosion at Princes Gate.
They've only evacuated the buildings that look onto Exhibition Rd, meaning the rest of the college is just carrying on and I can post from my boss' other office.
I have absolutely no fucking idea how I'm going to get home. Are trains running from Victoria?

Great, just got told to stay in the office and not to travel as advised by the chief constable of the met. Starting to get panicky at being holed up.
