kovacs got lashings of sympathy first time around, why should he get second-helpings just because he's cracking on that Roy pasted him in a Fight Club? That's just not fair. And fairness is what this is all about, right?

kovacs is not kidding - are people just not reading his/roy's/my posts?

Roy hit kovacs in the face in Aug 04 and broke his cheek bone. At the time, kovacs told noone bar his parents and brother that Roy was responsible.

Some months later they cautiously met up, Roy apologised, Roy came to our house and apologised to me. Later on that evening, he got angry enough to threaten kovacs again, I had to literally put myself between them and get Roy to leave.

I have found it bewildering/annoying/upsetting to have Roy posting on TMO ever since but obviously I'm going to be more bothered by what happened that most people (anyone?), and since his post count is probably now twice mine I haven't got much claim to the forum, but there you go.

PMD - just for clarity, I think Fish is kidding.

Can anyone provide clarity on whether Kovacs is kidding? Seems like an odd thing to kid about - I remember him being very shaken up at the time. I didn't know him and roy even knew each other....

Edit. Just saw Modge's post. Fuck. King. Hell.

Unless you're trying to say, 'PMD - he's definitely kidding,' I'd disagree.

Joking at such length about grievous bodily harm just doesn't strike the right note with me. I'm convinced he's telling the truth.

Well, I'm coming from a position of 'hey, you can't beat people up and stuff! That's like, so unfair!' but I'm doing so even though I've not met anyone on here, or been threatened by them.

So I'm going to bow out of this one now.

Edit: Sheesh, who'd have thought that joining a sneaky online forum to post on when the boss is out could get so fucking heavy?

kovacs introduced Roy to TMO before this all happened. Roy and kovacs went to school together, got back in touch in 2002 (I think), and at some point kovacs told him about the boards.

Quite a shocking turn of events, it must be said, if this isn’t some elaborate wind up. Is anyone really that surprised that the majority might just assume it’s a wind up of bizarre joke, considering Kovacs’ past form on here? That Kovacs had his cheek bone broken is shocking and terrible, no matter what the provocation, but I think we all expressed concern and sympathy at the time, and I don’t see why that should be reiterated upon now, simply because it transpires that the injuries were inflicted by someone other than a random assailant. I don’t know Roy, and I’m not going to make too harsh a judgement on his character based on this, because I simply don’t know the whole story, which took place over 18 months ago. There’s no reason for any more sympathy or empathy than Kovacs received in the first place, although perhaps jokes are slightly inappropriate. Again, though, why should anyone believe this is anything other than an elaborate hoax? Sorry Kovacs, I don’t mean to be cold here, but I think I’m not alone in, over the years, becoming accustomed to taking absolutely everything you say with a large helping of salt. I think this sanctimonious performance by some of contempt and concern is a little naïve to say the least.

Not in espadrilles you can't.

I'm not going to argue with Fish - for pretty obvious reasons. If anyone want's an impartial account of that evening, Bandy can maybe offer it - he saw the extent to which I was provoked by someone supposedly 'a friend'.

I see your point Ringo, and kovacs can't be too surprised if people can't always tell when he's being honest (which he genuinely is most of the time) or merely arch and playful. However, the "contempt" that some have expressed is hardly naive, given the situation.

Which makes it acceptible, I suppose.

If someone's curled up on their side, on the floor and you kick them in the stomach, they can at least slide backwards on the ground; there's no resistance from behind. If you stamp on someone's head, ie., with their head on solid ground, where's all that energy going to go, ben?

I'm not saying that kicking someone when they can at least budge the other way is acceptible, but stamping on someone's head... Jesus.

Do you understand. Not a joke. Not a hoax. Not an imaginary story.

Not an attempt for sympathy. Not a prompt for debate. Not a request for Rick to delve into an objective revisionist enquiry as to what really happened.

I posted above because it made me sick reading Roy's offhand, lighthearted remarks about the people he's hit hard. More generally, the notion being bandied about on this thread that punching and being punched might be a laugh somehow is bullshit, and I don't want to let it stand.

You don't have to believe me. Believe Modge, Bailey, Ben, Omikin, Vogon Poetess or Thorn, because Modge cracked a month ago and felt she had to tell a few people what had happened. She was finding it hard to stomach watching someone who threatened both of us in our own house becoming the cheeky-chap hard-man on TMO.

I lasted a few weeks longer before I realised I didn't owe Roy this "protection".

I wasn't asking for sympathy or even expecting much sensitivity -- but I'd have liked to see a bit of sense in the responses. Don't hold your breaths for my next post.

Anyway bandy's the last person to ask for an impartial account. It was him that persuaded me not to go to the police.

I will stop posting on here now. I had no idea that Modge was upset about this to such an extent and although this may count for nothing, I really do apologise to you, Modge. You have suffered because of this and I have no wish for you to continue to do so.

I can also only echo Kovacs comments that this is not funny, it was a horrible, horrible thing and I really do regret and apologise for my part in it.
