Question of the day:

Should We Ban Roy?

ETA: Irrelevant - he's already pulled the "you can't fire me because I quit" line.

Bloody right, too. Well, I've wracked my brains trying to think of a fresh thread to start, because surely I'm not the only bastard on here who wants a lighter conversation, but the best I can come up with is haiku's related to untested medicine.

Any ideas, anyone??

Kovacs I wouldn't be too upset at the reaction to be honest. I think it's only natural that people would use humour as a reaction in lieu of a more appropriate response to what is a fairly unprecidented occurance in forum history. People simply don't know how to respond to this and so are either complestely blasé about it, or extremely defensive. I don't think either is really the 'right' response, if there even is such a thing.

For what it's worth, I'd say that if this is as you say it is, the best thing Roy can do now is simply leave the forum.

If it came to it, for all I said in my last post, I'd rather not lose Kovacs from this forum.

This is about the darkest thing I think I've ever seen on TMO...

As an aside - PMD. Fish is definitely kidding. He really is. DOn't get wound up by the idea of stamping on people's heads. It didn't happen. At least, not to these people.

I agree, and if it turns out to be bullshit then everyone involved should fuck off too.

This isn't a wind up. The basic details happened and I do have my own side to this but this bollocks has gone on too long and I don't want to upset Modge et al.

So I am off.

My vote = No

It sounds like the original assault on Kovacs was the extreme result of high jinks between to drunk mates. Although I've never hit anyone while drunk, I have done accidental "don't know your own strength" type damage, and I can imagine someone doing a lot more damage with a punch than they ever intended.

I've no idea about the second event, obviously, and what the fuck's it got to do with me anyway, but again, if there's drugs and several hours and people that have known each other since they were kids then nasty things can happen.

I've kicked in a front door in the past myself while having a drunk/drugged row with a best mate. That's what drunk/drugged is all about innit.

Obviously Kovacs and Modge are upset, and understandably, but jesumiso knows how many other people on here have got real life grievances amongst themselves.

Only real question is whether Roy bans himself because of these revelations. I think that would be unfortunate, just as it would be a horrible loss if Kovacs and Modge stopped posting.

Yeah, sod all to do with me. Just have trouble buttoning it don't I.

I don't think it's going to be any help if people start making assumptions about the events that caused Roy to hit Kovacs. There's no reasonable justification for that kind of thing. As someone who abhors violence and naturally violent people, this entire topic has made me feel extremely uncomfortable.

I think it's probably best that the entire thing is simply thrown down the TMO memory hole like so many other dark events in our history, and we just move on.

this is the most bizarre thread I ever read...

I saw Kovacs post last night pretty much straight after he put it up.

I must admit that initially I wasnt sure if it was one of those TMO fiction specials written purely to garner a reaction.

I felt it would be unfair to comment until Roy had a chance to reply.

Having read this thread with ever wider eyes as the afternoon has gone on. I can only say that I am more than a little surprised. Also slightly disappointed.

I like both Roy and Kovacs. It was Kovacs that sparked initial interests those years ago when I started visiting TMO. Roy has been funny and friendly enough since then to make a really good impression on me.

I dont feel qualified to pass much more judgement on it other than to say I'm sorry that two people who were friends have fallen out so seriously over something that probably started out with more innocent intentions (although I have to say the very idea of 2 men really acting the fight club scenario a little ridiculous...its the kind of thing my mum would say authoritatively "well it was always going to end in tears"...)

So what else can you say?

I dont know...
