I had a Netgem one for ages (I gave it to my Gran eventually), which was really good. Really strong picture, good reception and really good looking. The company went bust, but I think BT bought the box design. So the BT ones might be just as good. Now we use some shit one provided by Telewest. It's ghastly; there's something about the way it outputs a widescreen signal that makes the edges fall off the side of the screen. And it crashes all the time. Load of shit. I keep wanting to go round my Gran's and take my Netgem one back but I'm worried that it would - you know - kind of be quite a cruel thing to do.

Thank you, Waynester and BR.

If so you should be fine with a variety of boxes, just connect the box to the aerial and your TV and hey presto digitales.
Yes to all of this. The arial man came yesterday and said the signal was fine, but the digibox was borked, so assumedly I can just plug in a new one.

Heh, this is my mother's house; it hasn't (shock, horror) even got a computer in it.

Cheers. Named and not too cheap seems to be the way forward, doesn't it? I shall be off to Argos at lunchtime. My exciting life, eh?

I liked Daedalus's sketch; but seeing as everyone else ignored it I though I would, too. I lack the strength to go against the dominant tide of opinion.
Do you think once my post count gets into four figures people might begin to interact with me? Only I really don't think I'll last that long.

I read it and I thought 'that's good' and then I wondered if Dedalus was Macandrew but decided against it. That was a mental interaction with Dedalus, just not a textual one. Sorry I mean:
*turns to face Dedalus*

Makes me think of people who go for the cheapest possible broadband supplier and then whinge that the reliably and tech support is crap.
My no-brand freeview box cost £30 and has worked fine for the last two years.
Thought I'd contribute to the important debate.

kovacs wouldn't own up to having a £30 box. His would be a limited edition state-of-the-art Japanese steam-driven valve one with a mahogany and brushed steel fascia lent to him by Melvin Bragg or Grant Morrison. Something like that.

I've got one of these bad boys. It is basically like Sky+ bur for freeview, allowing you to pause and rewind live TV, record programmes to a hard drive to watch later and so on. It's great.
I liked dedalusjokke but thought they were being ignored because they won't admit if they are fresh noob or old noob. Details please. Plus he is really Toby N Tucker and might go off at any time.

This is also the text system I use to describe sphinctal muscles on the move. So good was this system that not... tried to palm it off as his own, but you know plagiarism being the highest kind of compliment and wizzle.
