Does anyone know how I can make a file properly read-only? I'm trying to make a read-only Microsoft Word (XP) file at the moment but, although I've selected Recommend open as Read-Only and added a Password to Modify function, all I have to do is save it under a different name and I neatly and easily find my way around the barrier.
How can I make this safer?

Fuck's sake ralph, have some respect. Those pics are from Dang's personal website, it's not for you to go posting them all over the internet. Jesus Christ.

I was out for drinks with the people I work with the other night and about half way through the evening one of the managers slurred into my ear that he'd personally persuaded them to employ me "even though they din' wan' take you on coz your website's shit, know wha' mean?" *hic*
It is pretty terrible actually. There's nothing goes out of date and looks naff quicker than a website.

Your photos are all really cool though Dang. That one from a holiday in Scotland looks like an advert or something, and the cycling and garden ones are ace too. Posts: 710

What's the setup here Lickapaw? If you want a document that people can read but not edit the original then look no further than a web page. Save the Word Doc as HTML and stick it on your server. You can easily put a password on the page if you only want certain people to see it. They can view it in a browser, but they can't edit the content because it's on your server.
Is that any use, or would it be impractical in this case?
