And, for it's namby pamby graphics and ubergay name... It's actually pretty fun!
My question is does anyone have one that's chipped and if so, did you do it or did you take it to someone else? I've been looking around and both options are available, but since this is my first console since Turbo Grafix 16, I'm not really savvy to all that's out there...
All I know is this little beauty saved me a bundle on DS games and I'd like to continue the trend with Wii.

I read this thinking there would be some informative talk of how to get a will drawn up, if one should use a lawyer or one of those do it yourself packs from WHSmiths...
It wasn't until I'd re-read it three times that I worked out it was about computer games. I'm tired

Getting your console chipped is for cowards. Why not do the Real Man thing and start shoplifting games. It's basically the same, but with the addictive adrenaline rush of being pursued down Tottenham Court Road by four security guards who have been waiting all week for the opportunity to chase someone down and crush their head into the pavement.

I thought that the online connectivity of these boxes now means that chipping them is also neutering them in some respect.

Yes and no. Since I won't be playing Sonic Tennis against some 8 year old in Russia, online connectivity isn't really something I need to have. And, from what I've read up on it, the new generation chips can be somewhat easily disabled to allow you to connect without fear of bricking your console. Some even suggest that they are invisible but I wouldn't want to take that chance of basically throwing £180 out the window which is why I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with this.

True, as I understand it. The updates now come with a very nasty disclaimer saying that if there are any unauthorized hardware changes to the console, the Wii updates will make it explode in a huge fireball with black smoke and everything. So I suppose I'm a little less than enthusiastic about chipping mine.
