The 29th Anniversary of Bon's death has just passed. When we moved to South East London one of the first thing's I did was take the Masketeers on a pilgrimage to 67 Overhill Road, the site of Bon's death. Apparently there's occasionally some graffiti left by foreign tourists, but nothing really by way of a marker or memorial. I think that's wrong. I've decided that enough is enough, so I'm starting a campaign. Exactly what for I'm not sure, but it's going to involve a plaque or a shrine or a statue or something.

Bit vague.
Who's in?
In my head I started composing an idea for a 18 ft climbing frame that took ages to climb, but you had to do that if you wanted to get to the lump of granite, and the sausage and pastry snack, and was wired up to a 1000V generator, that could be built very frugually as long as we didn't bother to keep it clean and etc etc. It would have been great - better than if Jonesy and Kovacs how collaborated for 6 weeks on a series of threads and posts pulled together from a dozen different troll accounts and illustrated by a few pics H1ppy had taken by firing a camera flash up her skirt - but ultimately, I just couldn't be bothered.

Well, no. It would be nice but I'm a bit far away. And I would really be no use to you at all.
You can rally the troops en Afrique.
There's a sweet video clip here of Robert Plant going through airport security in the States recently. One of the security guards, who looks like the least likely Led Zep fan at first glance, seems to be genuinely upset that he couldn't leave his post and talk to his hero.
So, I reckon there must be loads of AC/DC fans in Botswana.

I know someone at Time Out, I'm gonna see if they're interested.
Australia's National Trust declared Bon's grave in Fremantle a National Treasure a couple of year's ago. Maybe I could get them on board? Get them to put in a good word with our own NT?
Time Out are doing an AC/DC thing to coincide with their tour, I've spoken to someone on the editorial team and the memorial campaign will hopefully get a mention.
In the meantime... I've started the ball rolling over at the fabulous Southwark council. Soutwark council, get this, do their own blue plaques!
I've done the topix one, the google one, the yahoo one, the official AC/DC one... um, I've got a list on my PC at home. I've been getting vague enthusiasm rather than solid support, though. I suppose that's largely due to my initial call to arms being so shit. Still, I shall persevere with this new direction. Top work, NWoD!
