Over the weekend I was amiably retracing some interweb history with a former TMO poster and we arrived back at that thread. The one where someone decided it would be fun to send frumites on forays to other boards and someone (Thorn?) went off to recce Handbag, with muchus hilarious results. But I have no idea who started the thread and for some reason it's bugging me. I am bugged by the most bizarre of things. It's Monday morning. I'm procrastinating. That's probably why I'm starting this thread.
Anyway. Widen it out a bit. Which thread was your like ultimate TMO favourite? Have a delve in the murk of the archives and dig me up a gem for procrastination perusal. At the moment, I am currently liking this.

It was Jonesy, "The Fellowship of the Boards". Thorn went to Handbag, Benway and I went to the vampires' forum, and, er, some other people went to some other places, except maybe they didn't.

My fave thread is the flower show story one. But I only like that thread so much because I'm so proud of what I wrote, rather than what everyone else wrote, which isn't the right spirit at all.

I really liked the 'Show me where Ringo touched you' thread, started by Ben. I liked it because;
pretty much every post made was hilarious
I actually received props for the first and last time (but couldn't really enjoy it as I'd posted as 'Mickey Love' - probably why I received props in the first place)
Ringo reacted with admirable good humour

you know when you get the feeling you walked into the conversation at entirely the wrong time? Or went to a party with 1 friend you know and they down a bottle of tequila as soon as you get in the door and pass out. Left to make those half arsed introductions for yourself in which you try to enlighten people to the fact that you could be the life of the party if you weren't shy, quiet and a bit boring. After failing to make any impression whatsoever as the music is loud and people are only asking as they dont recognise you, they then wonder off having learned nothing about you including your name only that you give the impression that you'd rather be at home with a book.

Is it terribly cynical of me to be convinced that none of the noobs we get these days are genuinely 100% new? They're lightly soiled, tainted by exposure to The Internet, possibly a dirtier or darker incarnation of something thatcame before.

Hey, Cheers Mart. I guess I spoke a little soon. I have been reading and lurking since thursday but these admin guys took a little time to get back to me with a log in. My absolute favourite thread EVER on TMO was when Jonesy started that 'Ideal Day on TMO' thread. It was perfect. Began with some beautiful chick-lit influenced twee perfection from Jonesy, progressed to a squabble in which everyone forgot the rules, and then when it finally got going it was the perfect platform for everyone to show how much time they'd spent here, how easily they could ape everyone else, and how perfect you could make things by pretending they were perfect.
Then Fish started a 'Worst day on TMO' which was equally funny. Ninja.
