Hi, I know london asked on a thread if anyone had a lastfm account apart from her and benway but I can't find the thread.
So yeah, set up an account the other day and today it seems to be working. &Tgng.
I appear to be listening to Benways station now.
My question is - what exactly is going on? Am I listening to all Benways MP3's on his computer because he is logged on to the internet? If he shuts his computer down does the music stop.
Also I am liking Kraftwerk. I like lastfm it is good.
Also I have virtually nothing except fisherspooner and some random country music in my MP3 collection as I ran out of disk space a while back and deleted entire collection. So don't bother cruising my toons.

you're listening to MP3s's that the last.fm guys have got. It's a standard streamining intenet, but it'll pick the tunes from whatever I've been listening to. Most of the artists, I think, should be ones that I 'like', but it might be that sometimes it skips to artists that are very similar. I was listening to Damo666's last night, and it was good.

I dont know! I havent used the radio function yet so I'm as much in the dark as you are...
I'm sure the man himself will be along shortly to explain...
Sorry a bit of a nothing post this one, isnt it?

No, you're listening to tunes that lastfm thinks Benway will like based on what he's played.
I have an account (fantata), but the thingy-jobbie has been intermittently working so there's not much on there. It's captured a Lemon Jelly album and thats about it. Oh, and I swear I never remember playing Madonna (!)
If you install the plug-in, then it'll record what you play and build up a profile of what you might like based on what you play. Great stuff, I love it. In fact, it's so good, it'll probably be shut down soon.
You can also set up stations based on global tags, which will try and play you stuff of a certain genre, or "artists similar to ****"
Somtimes it get's it mighty wrong, but on the whole it's great. My current favorite is german folk.

So it looks at the tunes you are listening to in itunes (for example) and creates a list in order of most frequently played, and then if I tune into your radio station it streams those tracks (and similar ones).

Oh, it appears to be logging the tracks I am listening to on Benway's radio as my top artists. But the ones I skipped aren't on there. OK.

Oh.. so its audioscrobbler under a different wrapper.
Oh sorry W. I figured you haven't actually signed up and someone else had the waynster username and had a list of metal tunes. Remember you're not dealing with the sharpest pencil in the pot here.

Actually this is really useful. You get to listen lo loads of tracks you like and some that you might like, and if you do like it, it's got all the details of that track on your profile.

This is weird. I try and play Ampsters radio and it is greyed out - when I click I get encouraged to sign up and pay money tho' it says I don't have to pay.
