Who's watching, who's reading, who hates it, loves it?

Season one is a tit-fest. After that, they hope the acting will keep you coming back.

They're nothing special, tbh. I mean, I've been wearing a pair for about 33 years now and they're really not all that exciting.

I did lose interest as it went on but wasn't really sure why I no longer wanted to watch it. I hadn't clocked the diminished tit-count, but maybe that's why.

I liked the books. I know it's 'the thing' to say that GRRM's writing is godawful, but I thought they were pretty well executed and that as a writer he excels in a couple of areas - one is putting you in the moment (reading the duel at the end of book three, you're immediately 'there' with the sights and sounds), and he's very, very good at making the stakes and consequences clear, so that when someone dies, or when an alliance is formed, you get that stomach sinking 'oh shit' feeling because you know exactly how the world has changed.

Anyway, yeah. Lost interest in the TV series around season 4, but still really want to read the next book.

I've enjoyed the show and the books. It's tue that Martin is no wordsmith, but I agree that there are some things he's great at. What I've enjoyed is how each perspective character has developed throughout the books while retaining a unique and familiar personality and worldview. Very few of the characters seem uninteresting, and as a device for driving the narrative I think it's very successful. Especially impressive considering the time it has taken to write each book, and the sheer volume of characters and events.

The latest season of the show has felt very rushed, but I think thanks to the groundwork done in previous seasons, there's a lot of well-earned payoff to seeing things come to a conclusion. If the whole show had been done in this way, I don't think it would have been nearly as engaging, but at this point you don't need to keep reiterating the characters motives or the gravity of the situations, because as a viewer you're already fully invested in each one.

I do think though that if Martin had co-authored the books with someone with a bit more flourish, then the books would firstly be all finished by now, and secondly would be considered amongst the all time great literary accomplishments.

I've never seen it, had no interest in it, and now it's five series in I have no chance of ever catching up.

I resent both the wall-to-wall talk about it, and the fact that I have missed out again, due to stubborn-ness at not joining in with the zeitgeist. See also the Sopranos, Wire, Breaking Bad, computers and CDs. I didn't think any of those would catch on. In fact, I'm a pretty good inverse bellwether of what's going to be a success.

We tried to watch it having heard all of the hype, and thought that it was rubbish. So that was the end of that.

We watch stuff like Fargo instead. And the great foreign dramas you can find on BBC4 on Saturday evenings.

There was a bit of boobage in season 3 or 4 and we finally got some naked male action recently although it wasn't who I would have chosen to get their kit off. But then I seem to fancy all the middle aged ginger men in the show so clearly have issues.

I love the show, I did try the books but found book 2 dull and never got to the end. It has its flaws, what doesn't, but I do really enjoy it and am going to be bouncing off walls when the last season arrives.

It's not too late! I do think the books are better, though.

I like the books. One reads like a novelization of the television show, two fills in some interesting character gaps that were not in the show. Three really is excellent - lots of moments where you realize that he has planned it all out very well. Four dips and is frustratingly like fan fiction. Five's second half is as good as Three.
