A prime example of a gloopy, syrupy Americanism. I think the first person to use it in this country was good old Tony Bluergh.

Yes, I can imagine Blair's thinking:

Indeed.

I am now thinking that Blair was probably the first person of note to use the sentence in making a public statement - probably after the death of Diana, Princess of Wales.

My thoughts... and prayers... are with... her sons... William... and Harry...
