I have to admit I've only been to Ringo's hometown a couple of times and it pretty much lived down to my expectations. Mind you, I didn't really see much past the train station - just a crappy leisure-park style bar/restaurant. Oh And I went to the Bowl once for Ozzfest, back in '98. That was Ok, I guess. No doubt there's a lot more to the place than this, which is what's inspired Ringo's continuing devotion to the city that knocks London into a cocked hat when it comes to road layout and not being a busy capital city.

Plus we now have an awesome football stadium, if that's your kind of thing. There was a comemorative match there last weekend and the pitch stayed in one piece, unlike a certain 'historical' pitch in London...

The saddest part of this MK pride is that anyone can order from IKEA. They sell online for a markup. I'd have thought you'd have been upset at this notion, because the concept of IKEA was for them to buy up a cheap plot of land, build a horrible warehouse, fill it full of the cheap goods and pass the savings onto the customer for driving home with the goods. Why is it people don't seem to understand IKEA is cheap shit for people who can be bothered to lift crap.
Actually, I went to Croydon IKEA which was supposed to be uplifting and exciting as we browsed for furniture to fill my empty flat. No such luck. The chimney stacks with faded yellow and blue hats were horrifying. There was spilled paint, rusted signs and the awful tram network. All of the furniture in the showroom was totally fucked and dirty. Everything looked terribly tacky and grim. We bought a drainer and 4 spice pots. We'd spent more on travel.

I'm not bothered at all to be honest. I've never shopped in Ikea and I don't intend to. Everything they sell is bland and featureless. Maybe if I needed a whole bunch of crockery and was on a tight budget I'd think about it, but generally I feel nothing for Ikea, except pity for people like my parents who seem to spend half their lives there.
