I don't think the Google Van has been lucky enough to visit Newbury yet, but *here's where I used to live in London's leafy Muswell Hill.

I'm not a londoner and for some reason Brighton isn't showing on this yet.

However, here is the house I lived in in my second year of Uni. It's the one on the left and when we signed up for it it was all grass out the front and grass out the back and when we moved in the landlord had tarmacced over it all.

It's good. Can't wait for it to have my house so I can link in and people can come and burgle me.

Slightly nervous about displaying this but here is the row of shops I live above.

Note the excellent bin position.

THE BINS!!!!!

Posted by Tilde (Member # 1215) on :

wow you can proper zoom in to peoples windows too.

I think Pia's getting changed in the living room if you look close enough Tilde.

This is the halls of residence I lived in my first year at uni in Glasgow...probably the worst house on one of the best streets in Glasgow, right on the top of a hill.

Those pictures in London were taken on about 26th February, so it's quite quick work to get them all online and sorted.

Man I need some Fruitopia...

the ones taken near where I live are from last year I think. There are a few shops in the pictures that are now different shops, ie, they have become internet cafes and members only social clubs, because this is the ultimate fate of all shops on the hornsey road.

Posted by Cherry In Hove (Member # 49) on :

This one in Shoreditch was definitely taken end of February. You can tell this from the newspaper headline.

I did this detective work myself because i is smart.

Here's us.

I was trying to get a sense of exactly where on the road this was, going by the for sale sign, before I realised that that For Sale sign was outside my house, meaning the pics must be about a year old.

Posted by New Way Of Decay (Member # 106) on :

lol, you can actually see the excellent bin position has been shunted towards the curry house:

And this is me

Judging from the abundance of greenery, I'd say it was mid-summer that these were taken.

Bin notes: wheely bin left on pavement, green bin (coloured brown) filled with cuttings

Car note: to left of house, ancient blue escort is mine.

I'd just like to say I've had a kebab from that kebab shop and it's far from the 'Best'.

Posted by Thorn Davis (Member # 65) on :

I've just realised I've accidentally linked straight back to Benway's flat. Er. If anyone cares, this is my road, and eerily you can zoom in on my front window and see the red chair I sit on when I'm thinking about stuff.

Lots of bikes in the front gardens down your street.

Posted by McDirts (Member # 6680) on :

Casa McDirts on that junction, and you'll notice the sweeeeeeeet silver Peugeot 306 parked to the side of the shop? Yes, it really is mine. Parked in THE primo position for once.
Strictly for the Hardcore

I've just had the unsettling realisation that I must have been in when that photo was taken. The bikes outside, the bedroom window ajar, and the upstairs curtains drawn all suggest that I'm asleep in bed, probably naked.

It's pretty much the standard in Oxford. Bikes everywhere. The favoured way to drop you kids at school seems to be by using a kind of tandem/trailer thing that attaches to your bike. Or a plastic seat on the back. Either, way the seem to be the most popular way to get to work round here.

Are you sure that isn't a film set? Pub, kebab shop, builders yard, railway bridge, union jack... there's even a London bus and a red pillar box in the background, and possibly a church on the other side of the road. The only thing that's missing is Hugh Grant I think.

You want to get that car checked over pronto, mate. Most blatant cut'n'shut I've ever seen.

Posted by Thorn Davis (Member # 65) on :

lol. I thought it was just my computer making the McDirtsmobile look like it was splitting in two.

Us clogland dwellers have it too.. Sadly the gits at Google thought my street not worthy of driving down so you'll just have to guess which house and floor I live at/on

Ummm.... Just a thought but with this and the numerous birthday threads, are we not opening ourselves up for identity theft?

Posted by Thorn Davis (Member # 65) on :

If there are any identity theives lurking on TMO the least they could do is start a thread or something. New blood is always welcome.

Damn. My new thread might be a bad idea then.

This is chez Keef. It was a Monday as that's bin day. In fact I drove past the google car as it was leaving the close but looking at the pics it must have already done all it's snapping by then.

So for once Norwich isn't the last place to get something and even more incredibly one of the few rural areas they've added so far is South Norfolk, including the village where I grew up which is really in the sticks (cue banjo music).

Posted by Tilde (Member # 1215) on :

Blimey Keef, you're doing alright for yourself there, nice house!

Posted by Keef (Member # 27) on :

Yes, and cunningly bought nearly at the peak of house prices two years ago.

Posted by Tilde (Member # 1215) on :

Did you go for the 5 year fixed rate too for :TOTALFAIL ?

Posted by MiscellaneousFiles (Member # 60) on :

I just paid £250 to get out of my fixed rate term early. Totally worth it.

Holy fuck - I'm on Google Street Maps, on my way home from work just by the tram stop near my house...

Phew, on a closer look it isn't me, just some random bloke, but I did find a full backle of the house..

Oh yes. 5.14% - not as bad as it could have been but still annoying with the base rate so low. Unlike Misc, our exit fees within the 5 years are a bit prohibitive.

In a similar vein, you raise your kids as best you can and then this is how they repay you.

Posted by Thorn Davis (Member # 65) on :

I'd find it difficult to get angry with my kid for that.

What about the testes:phallus ratio? It seems a bit off to me...

I notice those photos where he lived were in a shitty areas of London Near Finsbury Park and Hornsey Road. Those areas are so deppressing. [Frown]

Wouldn't it be nice if we could all live in somewhere like Golders Green or Barnes?

Posted by Kanye West (Member # 837) on :

lol

Posted by jonesy999 (Member # 5) on :

I've lived in both Golders Green and Finsbury Park so I'm perfectly placed to confirm that Barnes is full of wankers.

Posted by Keef (Member # 27) on :

Your old stomping ground is on there Jonesy, for some unknown reason, they've included a whole load of South Norfolk.

That is an absolutely splendid pair of jugs. Really excellent. Not so big as to be completely crass, but plump and round and with plenty of exposure. Brilliant.
