Hard on the heels of the news that Britons spend 7 hours a day 'consuming media'... lol

"Kym" from The Hamptons tells those Daily Mail-reading fules where to get off:

quote:
Oh my gosh the British public are obsessed with watching television. I think it is collective depression myself. In the states we celebrate life and are outdoors most of the time, not following storylines on adverts. How preposterous; it sure makes me laugh. I live in the Hamptons and it is a world away from Britain where people seem bitter and cheerless. I imagine a backwater myself. This site teaches me gratitude when I read the comments. I don't mean to generalize because there are some great people in your united kingdom but there are also alot of depressed folk. Go to the beach and release those endorphins. I mean this in a positive way so please don't condemn me. I simply want to highlight what I notice and it ain't good people!

Best comment on the Mail website ever.

She sounds like she'd be a great subject for a reality show.

Although she should be told that we don't keep our endorphins in captivity here, like they do. My auntie went to Seaworld once, and apparently they make them do juggling and everything. Sick bastards.

7 hours a day consuming media ?

Well I work for 8 or 9 hours a day with the radio on so that's me past that pointless statistic right away - Add to that the 15 minutes or so an hour I spend reading crap or looking things up on the internet and the 30 minutes I spend watching the news and the probably 2 hours of telly I watch and I'm almost constantly consuming media..

Yeah, "consuming media" is such a baffling catch all term as to make any commentary surrounding it completely pointless. It means there's no distinction made between 7 hours reading Madame Bovary in the original french, and 7 hours staring at the same Wonderbra advert.
