Sod you then. Although I may be buying another 360 soonish, as Forza Motorsport 2 is coming out and I need it. We can be buddies then if you like. I think my xboxlive name was illegal panther.

Here is an incentive to never play Guitar Hero ever again. An eight year old child much better than any human should be able to be at this game. And he does the devil sign as well. I wish I was that cool when I was eight but with a better haircut.

That's quite possibly the worst example of anything that I've ever seen. WTF is the point of that? "I missed three notes." Four words that remove any possible remote association with music from this, as you say, autistic demonstration of button wanking.
Partially redeemed by the brilliant retardity of the comments:
code:
i picked up guitar when i was 15 and only took a year to get good. not slash good but still good.

It's impressive because what he's doing doesn't even look physically possible. That's got no real bearing on my lack of competitive spirit has it?

Well, you know I was thinking about this comment, on the thread yesterday where you tried to outlaw both excitement and achievement, where you say you don't see the benefit of being the good at something, unless you can make money from it (not a particularly convincing point to begin with).

Given that it's unlikely in the extreme that this kid will actually make money from playing Guitar Hero II well... what do you find impressive about it? I mean - if you don't see any benefit in doing something any better than anyone else can do it?

It looks a hell of a lot more physically possible than something like this for example.
Not that I'm praising piano wanking any more than button wanking, but y'know, just making a point.
Also, why do all YouTube videos have out of sync sound and vision? It's not a technical issue with video clips because they're fine on, say, films I've taken with my digital camera.

I can see what you're saying here. But your argument seems a bit twisted.
We were talking about the desire to win, to come first. I didn't say at any point that I didn't think passion was good, what I was said was that I try and keep it inside rather than go on about the things I'm into.
So, I didn't suggest that it was pointless for anybody to be good at anything or like anything, but instead that I don't feel desire to win, and while I can see other people do love to win and to be the best, I don't have a drive towards that myself. This does not negate my chance of appreciating when somebody is really techincal proficient at something to the point where it exceeds what I thought was possible. So, you know, I was thinking about what might motivate me to want to win something, to get really good and beat everybody, and I thought that maybe money might motivate me.
I don't really want to keep going on about this, but if it helps nathan, I'm not trying to suggest that other people are wrong to want to win or excel. Didn't mean to annoy you.

no need - I'm not going to hold it against you. One day you'll get me good, nathan. One day my whole empire will be brought down once you find that crack, that weak point in my economy of lies. This is not that time. Stay vigilant.

Astonishingly I've just come across something even more synthetically futile than Guitar Hero, in which you don't have a guitar and you're not a hero. One of my boys has been invited to Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting. This sounds like crap observational stand-up material. How many words in the phrase "Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting" are redundant? They invented "clay pigeons" so people could practice shooting shotguns without having to have real pigeons to hand. So that was basically "clay shooting". Only one redundant word in "clay pigeon shooting". But with "Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting" there is presumably no pigeon, no shotgun and (I suspect) no clay. A more accurate name would perhaps be Laser Pointing.

God dang, oh course there'd be no clay! I'm glad people have finally understood the plight of the poor, defenseless clay pigeon, and done something about it.

You do use a clay in Laser Clay Pigeon Pointing, otherwise... what would you know to point the gun at? It's got a kind of reflective band on it so the shot 'registers' and you get points. They had it at a press launch I was at one time. It's true that it is a kind of a crippled version of proper clay pigeon shooting, but it means it can be used as a sideshow thing at a boozy corporate function without the risk of drunk and clumsy people shotgunning each other to death.

I've tried that russian chick in the mine a couple of times and died both times. Second time round I found the cave where she was hiding, poked my head round the corner and the whole thing exploded, killing me instantly.

After rather enjoying beating the crap out of passers by playing The Godfather at Thorn's at the weekend, I went out and bought a Wii last night. Can't recall which of you other than Thorn have one so if you fancy kicking my ass at Wii Sports let me know.
Bought Red Steel with it, great game, took a bit of getting used to aiming with the remote but once I got the hang of it the controls seem impressively intuitive.
Just hope they're bringing out a good cricket game for it, the remote is tailor made for it..

At the moment I'm playing this version of Tetris. I quite like the 'quick drop' feature. Simple pleasures and all that.

bugger, ah well, if anyone fancies a co-op game of Red Steel or Zelda then, unless you're going to tell me they're not web enabled either? Haven't had a chance to check to be honest..

Mario Strikers Charged will be the first online multiplayer game here, I think. Out May 25th, apparently. For some reason we're getting it before the US. Maybe because it's shit.

I can't stop playing Winning Eleven(Pro Evo). It's terrible. It's humiliating. I am getting routinely anhialated by Japanese, Korean and Hong Kong teenagers. I can't win. Ever. I can't even score. I should stop playing. It hurts my hand because the 360 controller D-pad is shit. It causes physical and mental pain. Fucking idiot.
I have been playing a lot of rock, paper, scissors as well and I am pretty good against 8 year olds.

I've not played on my wii in ages so I thought I'd put it up for sale. I put it up for £150 which I think is a reasonable price considering it's got so many virtual console games on it.
Within 2 minutes of putting the notice up on the intranet at work, it's sold. I should have asked for more money.
