Oh man that would be excellent. A Mexican wave of discontent and apathy that spreads from where you are standing all around the stadium, with everyone becoming sort of glum, disaffected and unable to ignore a nagging sense of emptiness inside them. Eventually it would spread to the players as well, and they'd all just sort of come to a standstill, and look a bit frustrated and disgusted with themselves.

anyway, I'm also playing Professor Layton and the Curious Village, which is fun, but suprisingly taxing.

And afterwards have Gordon Brown on TV reading out an apology that began "That we have marginalised a great man like Stephen Benway is a terrible mistake on our part..." and a montage of people from both the international stage and from Benway's personal life all addressing the camera to say "He was right and I was wrong". All with Benway nodding, ungracious and smug in the centre of a rugby pitch.

I wonder. where could you go in life after something like that? It'd be such a fantastic achievement, but once people had stopped talking about it you'd just start to feel alienated and victimised again.

that would be sweet. If everybody, finally, could wake up and see the world, and me, for what they really are. If they could just understand.

I think it would better if Blair did it though. Gordon would only be able to show an adequate amount of remorse, whereas Blair would show genuine pain and sorrow.

-

"..y'know...quite frankly, we've failed here, guys. We-we've let ourselves down in a very, very serious way...and...and honestly, I don't know how we can look at ourselves in the mirror again, y'know. I mean - look - he was here, the whole time, and what were we doing? Carrying on with our own lives, y'know, not paying attention... I should have been listening. Guys, we should have been listening."

-

"This is a very, very dark day indeed. All we can do is thank Steve for being - and I'm being deadly serious here - patient enough to wait for us to open our eyes."

I'm now all set up on Xbox Live. Hooray. Although at the moment I think the only online games I have are guitar hero games I shall pick up Halo on the way home. I've added Thorn. If anyone else wants to add me my gamer tag is excitingly enough Seb Newman. It's a clever way of hiding my true identity by using the shortened version of my first name.

Also - if you want to add Stark, his name is Metric Mongoose.

Ideal days for me to play would be Thursday, Friday evening or Sunday. That said I'll probably be on most of the time now.

I only played one game of GH3 online and beat some Belgian kid. He was quite funny. Started off quite confident and singing along, then when I was beating him he started whistling down the microphone I guess to try to put me off, then towards the end of the last song he was whimpering "please let me win, please let me win, i want to win"

YOu should set up a dedicated thread where people can post their availability. These mega-threads are shit, frankly. I hate them. Say you bought Mass Effect and wanted to discuss it/ slag me off for recommending it/ find out what I liked. Almost impossible in this behemoth.

So yeah. If you had a Live thread where people could write "I'm gonna be on Live all weekend as my wife is going to be in hospital giving birth to our son" then people know whether it's worth logging on.

I bet you didn't let him win did you? Thirty years old and you couldn't let a desperate child win a game of Guitar Hero. Look at yourself. Look at what you've become.

I didn't let him win. And I'm not 30 so you can fuck off. Just because you're old and should be doing more productive things than playing computer games doesn't mean all of us are.

fans of computer games are undoubtably thrilled today, as Apollo Justice has finally been released, and is looking good on metacritic.

I enjoy reading your DS tales Dr Benway, but does anyone else on TMO actually own a DS to take advantage of your recommendations?

The localization team at Capcom should be commended for writing dialogue that is genuinely funny. Basically, if you're a fan of the earlier Phoenix Wright games, you will laugh...a lot. Couple the comedy with Justice's engrossing story and you have a case that would be criminal not to take

It's not a case of if people do or do not heed any of my recommendations, but rather, if they should or should not. If they chose not to, that's not my problem. Sadly, I can only lead a horse to water. What can do? Give it a name.

anyway, fans of reading words that I have written about things that they know or care nothing about can look forward to a meaningless review of Apollo Justice, once I've finished the game.

Well. I bought Halo 3 and PES2008 on the way home. PES works fine and seems to be a relatively bland football game, but Halo 3 doesn't bloody work. I had to buy it second hand as for some reason neither Game or Gamestation had a new version, anyway, it gest to the bit where you have to look up and look down and then about 30 seconds after that it says the disc can't be read. This disc looks spotless. Stupid shop. Will have to take it back tomorrow.

Ah. It seems I'm far from being the
only one with this problem...

I don't quite understand. I'm editing this and removing the space after url= and before http but it won't get rid of it. It's fine with doing other edits but it just won't get rid of that space. I don't understand.

Hah, that's nothing. Thorn spends most Sunday afternoons taking our Mass Effect back to the shop to have miniscule marks buffed off so the incredibly-picky XBox won't turn its nose up at it.

I bought the latest car DLC for Forza the other night, and took the FXX out for a spin. completed a couple of events with it, and then, in a fit of madness, I blew a load of cash on an F40 and full upgrades to try and win the C20th Supercars Invitational. Still can't win.

I don't know where to post this, so it's just going on the most active thread.

Anyway I just learnt a brilliant word: retromingent.

You can guess what it means.
