When I said "you can guess what it means", I meant "I'm sure you can work out what it means". Not "I am going to withhold the information as a kind of game", though I can see how that perception arose. Sorry everyone.

put Mass Effect to bed, which was almost a relief, as it was slowly taking me over. Enjoyed it a lot. Some very nice moments of drama. After having now finished it, I would say there are a few further things that are in it's favour against Oblivion. The aforementioned dramatic moments are much more tightly scripted and cinematic than anything in Oblivion. Some really good things happened towards the end. It's a shame that the sidequests remained such a grind though. Still, I finished most of them, only skimping on a couple of of the scanning / collecting quests, and the thing with the fan on the citadel never seemed to get resolved.
Still playing a bit of Rainbow Six terrorist hunt. Only a bit though. I think I'm going to try and watch a few films now that Mass Effect is done.

Well unsurprisingly, I’ve spent most of my weekend playing Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. Apparently so has Waynster.
I won’t go too mad with reviewing it, but suffice to say it’s very good. The gameplay is maybe a little underwhelming with the pad, but when I hooked up my steering wheel it really transformed the experience. It really is incredible how satisfying it is to play this game, even just putting together tidy laps.
The graphics are, on the whole, very good. Great car models, some lovely t&l effects. Some of the textures area bit bland though, and the larger, more open tracks really lack any real standout qualities. The London track looks amazing while you’re playing although the ‘flyby’ shots you see in the menus show up some fairly simple geometric models. This detracts somewhat from the quality of the textures. As I say, when you’re playing the game this doesn’t really show up, but it looks like an area where you’d expect them to be focusing some effort for the final release of GT5.
The sounds effects are fairly decent, with each car having its own unique engine noise. The tyre noise is a little generic though but does a decent enough job of letting you know when you’re getting close to the limit.
All in all, for an early work in progress it does a good job of showing the kind of quality we can look forward to from GT5 when it’s released in early 2009.

I like Ringo so correctly points out have been playing Grand Turismo Prologue as well (I saw you come online Saturday Ringo, didn't realise it showed up what I was playing)
Can't add much more to what Ringo said - I loved the HD concept when it came out, and this is really just a very much expanded version of that. Fantastic graphics, incredibly lifelike on the whole. The Capuccino still drives like a brick, but a bit more practice and I can get something half decent. I've got a bit of a way to go before I will be challenging anyone, but very pleased with it (and with the price - about 30 quid!)

Nah, but I’m hoping if I really ham it up they’ll give me some morphine lol. Yeah they’ve got wireless access here so I can use my phone. I didn’t think you were meant to use phones in hospitals but apparently it’s ok these days.

I didn't do that one on either playthrough, but Thorn says you can have a conversation with him where you end up shooting him. Am towards the end of the second playthrough and am - so - close - to - Level - 59... I meant to stroll through my second go-through just doing the story missions and being all Renegade-y and mean, then got sucked back into obsessively collecting XP and doing the Paragon-y things AGAIN because I can't bear to hurt people's feelings. How fucking lame is that.

I know that everybody here has leapt onto Condemned 2 after my painstakingly detailed review up there. Well, here's a word of warning. Quit out to the main menu before turning the game off. You don't want to go turning it off just assuming that the save points it has created actually exist. You don't want to go losing a days worth of play, and have to start from scratch. That's not something you want. Honestly. It's not.

I was playing the first Condemned last night as I have to wait for Kate to finish being on night shifts before I can continue with Oblivion and I didn't fancy Mass Effect.
I'm not entirely sure if I was enjoying myself. I was geuninely scared which was good. I haven't had that from a film for about 15 years. The lighting is very well done and I find myself trying to get to the light areas pretty quickly and generally get ambushed by a junky hidden behind a wall on the way. As I say, very scary but I'm not sure if it's fun.

thank goodness tmo came back online, so we could harness the power of the internet to have that thrilling un-conversation. Every time I post in games, tmo dies a little bit more.

That is also the most fun bit of the first one. Well. Tasering them first, then disarming them, then beating them senseless is all excellent.
I'm knackered today and I strongly suspect this is from about 3 hours of proper tension just before going to bed. Perhaps not as condusive to a good night's sleep as a hot bath.

one of the achievements in the second one relates to tasering them, then dousing them in spirits, then tasering them again and setting them on fire. That's some fucked up shit. This from the company who made sonic the hedgehog.
