Late to the party. but here's some songs we danced to back in the day:
Beers, Steers and Queers - Revolting Cocks (we had a little dance that went with it...the entire club did it...very amusing)
A bunch of songs by The Lords of Acid that I can't think of right now.
Pretty much any song by The Cure, seeing as how we were(still?) all Cure freaks.
Blister in the Sun- Violent Femmes (and the part where he sings stop to check you out, the enitre club sang "Stop to eat you out". We had so much class as teens).
A Daisy Chain for Satan and The Days of Swine and Roses - My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult
Anything by New Order (I've been listening to them nonstop recently...reliving my youth perhaps?)
Love will tear us apart - Joy Division
Part of me - Tool
The Stone Roses Blur Oasis Charlatans UK The Ocean Blue The Pixies Beastie Boys
The Passenger - Iggy Pop You Made Me Realise - My Bloody Valentine Another Girl Another Planet - The Only Ones Like A Virgin - Teenage Fanclub Crystal Eyes - The Nightblooms Love Your Money - Daisy Chainsaw

Television, The Drug Of The Nation - Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy Eject - Senser Call It What You Want - Credit To The Nation (bonus points with this one as all the Nirvana fans get up then look confused then sit down again)

this is one of my favourite songs to dance to ever. But only if they play the album version which has the extended ambient part with the big 808 sounds, massive guitar reverbs and Kerstin Haigh singing yeeeeeeaaaaaaaayaaaayaaaaaaaay - because that's the bit that makes the hairs go *prong* on the back of my neck.

Violet - Hole Special One - Ultra Vivid Scene
Also: I have that Little Chris song in my head and need to get it out - anyone have any tips? You know, it's a fairly creditable effort for what it is, I just don't want it knocking around the inside of my skull all day.

How could we have forgotten this awesome twosome?
bohemian like you - the dandy warhols
song 2 - blur
But what do I play after these two? Or should that just be the end of the set (quite possibly). What do you think?

Sounds like a good ending to me. I was trying to think what that blur song was called about half way through the thread but I could only remember "13" which is the album I think.

Indie bangers were wonderful. My co-dj Ubertrick is truly a genius on the decks (well, laptop and iPod.) We are a fun team I think. Everyone was dancing, the whole club! We dumped the whole indie bangers thing pretty quickly though, substituting it instead with a flawless blend of electropop, girlpop, and current tweepop hits (they nearly died when we followed Camera Obscura's 'Lloyd, I'm ready to be heartbroken' with The Pipettes' 'School Uniform' and The Primitives' 'Crash' [which, along with Ash's 'Girl From Mars', was one of the few indie bangers which made it through]). Things ended with a segue from The Knife's 'We Share Our Mother's Health' into Brazilian awesomeness from Bonde do Role (Ma´quina de Ricota), climaxing with, of course, CSS's 'Let's Make Love'. It was amazing! People were whooping, and punching the air. We have definitely not made people whoop before, ever! It was awesome. I believe we now have some kind of residency so you Londoners should come check out the awesomeness next time.
Also, it looks as though my sister is due to be joining my band! We will be the Kim and Kelly Deal of shimmering girly tweepop, though with less heroin, perhaps.

I did think about going, but in the end I thought that the whole thing might have been a bit overwhelming. I thought that there might be people there who would give me shit, or at least, patronise me because I'm not into the music scene, and I don't know loads of cool young people. Also, increasingly, I find that if I 'go out' I end up doing or saying something in my inebriation that will come back to haunt or trouble me. If there is some event and I don't go, I wake up the next morning feeling ok, safe in the knowledge that I haven't debased or humiliated myself like a drunken lunatic. Not all events, of course, but I felt that the one on saturday would have potentially quite a few people there who are suspicious of me or don't like me, and the chances of incidents would have been high. You've mentioned at least one of these people already.
The last time I went to one of these things with lots of sceney people, it ended up with louise getting burned by a cigarette from a crazy woman, me having a go at somebody I'd never met before, and then later being told I'm an idiot in front of a room full of people. At around 7 am, I was spraypainting things on walls around finsbury park in a kind of alcoholic waking coma. It takes weeks to get over the shock, shame, and physical trauma of that kind of thing.

You should download Superafim, it's pretty bouncy. I don't have Alala, but I will check it out
