Did anyone catch the first episode of the new series of Little Britain last night ?
I laughed like a drain at the Fat Fighters sketch.
"I have a question for you Vanessa Feltz"
(If you didn't see it then I won't spoil the punchline)
And I laughed like a loon a the Jam Judging by the two W.I Ladies and all the old faves brought a smile to my face - Little Britain is shaping up to be a future classic.
I also really enjoyed the low budget, low rent comedy of Top Gun: My Life in Film starring Kris Marshall (the oddball son of TV's unfunny My Family) - I'm looking forward to next weeks pastiche with baited breath.

Don't worry - BBC Three are sure to repeat their flagship comedy show until it becomes as funny as an episode of The Fast Show you've seen 43 times since 1998. Which was nice.

I missed the first episode as well, but I did watch the documentary which is available through the BBC Interactive (bouton rouge). It's like DVD "Bonus Features" for your telly, kids!

Arggghhh! Damn you all with your fancy Satellite receivers and digital television! I hate the BBC for advertising Monkey Dust, LB etc on BBC1 which even us chavvers get, but no fair we can't get the extra stuff here.

You are so right Bandy. The strange thing is that the first episode was absolutely crap, but it's been getting better and better.

Yeah! Green Wing is really growing on me. I'm even starting to like Tamsin whats-her-name too, who I found really annoying in Black Books.
I think some of Little Britain, mainly Vicky and David the only gay in the village are hilarious, but a lot of it is just David Walliams prancing around doing silly accents... I also invariably think this is really similar to something that happened in The League of Gentlemen but not as funny whenever I'm watching it.
Forgot to add that Marjorie Doors is absolutely hilarious too Posts: 148

Tamsin Greig is Debbie Aldridge in The Archers, but in that she's short and blonde and stocky. Good acting, huh?
Also, Dawn from The Office is Hayley Tucker in The Archers, but not as pretty and probably brunette. Not such good acting there I think.

AHHH. So that would make it a nepotastic episode of Black Books, where DawnFromTheOffice played her best friend from school? And they drank Lifecry, the red spirit with the injured polar bear on the label! I wish Lifecry was real.
Also re: Archers, I can just remember a young gril who was a fan (she must have been Posh/Odd. Probably played the cello and acted in school productions of Shakespeare as well) that went on Jim'll Fix It, and he gave her a part in Archers which was this: "Thanks Mrs Hetherington. Bye." Then Jim gave her a radio to listen to her 'part' on. Kids were easily pleased in the 80s, weren't they? Wouldn't get that now. Mind, everyone would think Jim was a paedo now anyway.
Re: Only gay in the village, I heard this excellent conversation on the Tube recently:
MAN: Ha ha yes! And I love that [Horrible Impression] 'only gay in the vill-age'! Ha ha ha! GRIL 1: Yes ha ha ha. Ha. Our neighbours know Matt Lucas. These two gay guys. They go clubbing with him. MAN: Ha ha ha. What? I don't understand. GRIL 2: Our neighbours. They go to gay clubs with Matt Lucas. He's often round theirs. MAN: Right. Oh! You mean in the series? GRIL 1: No. In real life. Next door to us. MAN: Oh. He's..? I...see.
And you could practically hear his brain saying "He's...actually...gay? Then...is he still funny? I will have to think this one over, later. At length."

I don't suppose anyone caught the first of the new French And Saunders series last Friday? I only ask because I think it's the first time I've laughed heartily at a French And Saunders programme. I may perhaps be getting very old and will next find myself chuckling to Last Of The Summer Wine, but I prefer to think it's because French And Saunders have actually started being funny. Have they?
They also continued their record of spoofing films which I haven't seen yet (spoof Cold Mountain on Friday, with spoof DVD commentary from spoof Nicole Kidman). This means that by the time I see these films I've already got the spoof in my head. This may be why I think so many films are shite.

Maybe you're just getting old? My parents love French and Saunders, but I never really got it. We all use to sit round the telly and watch it together and my parents would laugh like drains. I would laugh too, but only because I wanted my parents to like me.

Hey I've started to do that too! Not with French and Saunders, but in general. In Mother's company. Smiling, yessing, encouraging. Instead of scowling, sicking, dismissing. Even in response to things about refugees and asylum seekers, for instance, which are the same thing, by the way, and who steal all our money and public services, yes, you are absolutely right, I agree with you one hundred percent, they are hateful, aren't they, Mother?, it should not be allowed, it is a disgrace. The thing was: I was terrified my disgust of Mother was turning into psychological abuse. You are wrong! you are ignorant! you are intolerant! your opinions are disgusting! you are a hideous person! Followed by much guilt, much contrition, much love. And pretend fondness.
Remind me: did French and Saunders do an Aliens spoof? I think it gave me nightmares. More than the film itself. Though the film is responsible for my phobia of spiders. Because I watched it when I was two or something. Just like Pretty Woman, aged five, instilled in me a love of prostitutes.
