I've just downloaded a game for a friend who isn't especially computer savvy. The download consists of a .cue file and a large .bin file. I've burned the .bin and the .cue file to a CD but when I then try to autoplay the CD it does nothing at all.
If I mount the .cue file from the version on my hard drive in Daemon tools, it runs absolutely fine, so there is no problem with the downloaded file, but does anyone know why this wouldn't be working when actually burnt to disc?
I don't want to have to burn him another disc with deamon tools on and then try to explain how it works as a virtual cd drive....

Sorry CiH that you had to talk to yourself as I could have told you to burn as an image (you do the same with *.ibp and *.ibq, *.iso, *.tao, *.nrg, *.mdf, *.cdi - though some image formats aren't handled by Nero.. You may need to get PowerISO or Alcohol - NEVER EVER touch Roxio... It's poo to the nth)
Also, when burning an image, it's always good practice to burn at the slowest speed possible to ensure a good track-by-track burn.

To be honest, I bought 20 blank CDs about 2 years ago and having just used two today, I'm down to my last 12....
Since getting Daemon tools and having up to four virtual cd/dvd drives at a time, I've not really found the need for burning stuff.

You haven't been playing newer stuff then...
Some of the new versions of SecureROM won't even let a game install if it detects Daemon tools...
If you ever get stuck on some, AnyDVD works pretty good at getting around some of the security checks. Alcohol120% (which isn't technically around anymore because they were forced to close up shop because their burning methods by passed almost all security) would be your next step should you ever need it

I'm quite amazed you'd say that tbh, until I rebuilt my PC a a few months back I was using a copy of the full Roxio suite and found it to be some of the most reliable, functional and easy to use software I've experienced.
Nero doesn't work on my machine for some reason, refuses to recognise that there's a disc in the drive even though every other piece of software can see it..
