In TV's Battlescar Galacticker, their curse word of choice is "frak" (used as per fuck, natch). This appears slightly strange to those of us who remember the classic BBC Micro game of the same name:

I seem to recall another sci-fi show used 'Frel' in a similar manner. Not a clue which one, though, it has been some time...

Yes, maybe it would. I suppose even if you say some kind of secular curse like "may your next child be a spastic" you are implying some kind of higher power that you're calling on. Then again, is a blessing like "may the road rise with you" actually any more religious than "have a good day?" They're only really expressing a hope for the other person... perhaps wishing good fortune, not the favour of a god.

Also: the blimeys etc all are derived from Cor Blimey which is derived from God Blind Me. So no go there then.
