This morning I drove to the post office. It was an anxious journey. It was the first time the car had been used since I did it to it. Except really I didn't do it to it. It did it to me. But I still got blamed for it. Apparently you're supposed to pull over when your car's suspension suddenly collapses and the whole vehicle slumps to one side like a gone-wrong pudding, bursting its tyres in the process. Apparently you're not supposed to keep driving if you can smell rubber burning and see smoke billowing up the windscreen and hear metal grinding pavement. Not even if you've got overdue library books to return, a whole ten of them of course, the most you can take out, it would happen when you have ten books out at thirty pence per day per overdue book and you only remembered about them three days late. It would do it to me then. Bang, it went. They went. The tyres. People looking round to see what had happened, the car on a tilt, smoke churning up, and me keeping on driving regardless, determined to get to the library before it shut. If it hadn't done it to me, I wouldn't have done it to it. So you can see why it was anxious this morning, our first time out together since we did it to each other. But I got to the post office. I posted my letter. I think we're going to be fine. I think it's going to be a good day.

Is gold magnetic? I dropped my cartiledge stud down the bathroom sink this morning with my fumbling hangover ham-hands. It's gold with a sapphire. The U-bend is metal and painted over thickly with paint from lots of years ago so that baby isn't coming unscrewed in a hurry. If gold is magnetic then I could borrow my Dad's small magnet on a string and drop it down the plug hole and retreive my earring with a life-time's worth of hair and soap-scum attached to it.
That annoyance aside and with the hangover fug slowly lifting I think today will be ok. I've got a lovely new printer at home which prints photos as shiny as if the print shop had done it themselves so I can't wait to get home to play with it. One word of advice though: Don't drink red wine on a detox.

Also I'm wearing a top that got food on the front of it last night so I'm wearing back to front and keeping my jacket on all day. I don't think you can take anything too seriously if you're wearing your new top backwards with red duck curry splashes on it.

Gold has a reasonable magnetic susceptibiltiy but is diamagnetic. This means that current loops align so as to oppose the magnetic field and it cannot undergo domain alignment on a large scale. The magnet on a string technique may work if the stud is like really really impure (which I'm sure it isn't) and contains a lot of ferromagnetic metals (i.e. traditional magnetic materials: iron, cobalt and nickel).
I should begin scraping the paint off if I were you.

I don't think you're gonna need anything Superdense... Stuff from Claires Accessories (where my daughter does most of her jewellery shopping) usually floats in water.. Shortly before it dissolves..

I feel remarkably low today. Work is pissing me off (due to the fact that i'm surrounded by useless, shortsighted, lazy fuckwits), the house sale is still dragging along slowly and there are huge headaches on the horizon (per builders, access, engineers and the release of mortgage funds). These are the lows.

I don't know but today seems kind of odd. This morning there was no barkin from the dogs, no smog, and momma cooked a breakfast with no hog. So, I got my grub on, but didn't pig out.
After that - finally! - I got a call from a girl I wanna dig out, so I hooked it up for later as I hit the do'. At this point, I was thinkin that I will I live, another twenty-fo'.
Anyway, after breakfast, I gotta go cause I got me a drop top, and if I hit the switch, I can make the aaaaaaaass drop. I Had to stop, at a red light. I was Lookin in my mirror and not a jacker in sight!
Everything is alright
Later, I got a beep from Kim, and she can fuck all night. I Called up the homies and I'm askin y'all; "Which park, are y'all playin basketball?" (Get me on the court and I'm trouble Last week fucked around and got a triple double! Freakin niggas everyway like M.J.)

good day:
tonight i have a date! last night danced away in a gay club to great 80s hits. was trashy fun. the british council are sponsoring a metalheadz night here (bangkok) at the end of the month. more nostalgia! found out a friend's boyfriend proposed to her. how sweet!
bad day:
hungover. well, more spaced out. the absurdly attractive girl i ha;lf-heartedly tried to 'pull' last night turned out to be married. her husband was very nice. she was 19, ffs, 19. and then i thought, shit she was born in 1986. i remember 1986. appear to have no money in bank account.

Low point: working until 4am last night to meet a 9am deadline.
High point: client is pleased. Even higher point: off to Belgium to make speeches about armoured vehicles in front of a crowd of transatlantic fellow travellers.
Low point: having to put up with some of the dismal efforts of some of the other contributors.
High point: Belgian beer. Frites. More Beer.
Low point: hangover.
High point: Talking about Kampfgruppe Peiper and its role in the 'Battle of the Bulge'. And no, I do not mean Benno's current battle against the flab.
ETA possible low point: worst case scenario, I may get asked to be a consultant for some shit Channel 5 documentary where the re-enactors get the uniforms all wrong.

Close, Misc. But Partridge wouldn't pass off as a wannabe tank driver from Missouri. He'd need to gorge on a couple of dozen quarter pounders first.

- Weather was warm but grey and cast over with sea mist over breakfast.
Good:
- Had full English breakfast alfresco in Brighton's glamorous North Laines. - Just spent four hours in the blazing sunshine on the seafront, drinking vodka and cokes. - Had amazing chat with amazing boyfriend over said seafront drinks. - I'm not going to work today; I'm on holiday!! - Absolutely buzzing about 2 1/2 week holiday in Africa to start tomorrow!!! - Am working way through a bar of Green & Black's orange spiced chocolate.
Day so far:
Fan-fucking-tastic!!!
I predict:
Not much to predict, because it's 7p.m., but I think it's going to carry on in the same vein.
Am smug bitch. He heeeeeeeee!

Good - woke up after getting off work (a night shoot) early, and have now officially finished mixing my first film! Sun is burning about, so opted to miss the midday sizzle for a bit of Batman Begins, and loved it. Then lay on the common, reading Bleak House and listening to music, before dozing off for half an hour, waking up, coming home and guzzling really cold pineapple juice. Only the presence of Mrs The Ball could improve this day.
