Does anyone else waste time by looking at pictures on flickr?

If so, why not post a link up here?

here's a set for example purposes Japanese wedding
 -
Sample pic

This one intrigues me, I can't work out who the groom is but I'm pretty sure it's the ugly dude who's in most of the photos. It seems like a pretty expensive wedding, I mean, look at these little models they had done - here - the likeness is pretty fucking good. That must have cost a few Yen, so maybe he's filthy rich. Anyhow I like the look of the food. Imagine that, Japanese food at your wedding. MNnnnnn.

I've posted a link to this before but I'll post it again anyhow.

Basement Mac Collection
 -

This set combines two loves of mine. Macintosh and ikea furniture. It's an amazing waste of money which scares and intrigues me. I particulary covet the white glossy cabinets system which I was once going to get but now annoyingly ikea have discontinued them.

That sounds amazingly shallow, but fuck it.

Nah, all those Imacs probably only run to just about 2000 Euros for the lot, depending of course on the spec, but I'm guessing they're pretty basic. In fact I reckon you could pick all of them up for well under 2000 Euros and that's less than some OTT trendy art installation would cost you.

If he calls it ART now he could probably sell it for more than he paid for it.

Oh yeah I know the mac's don't cost much and you can get them in a big batch. It's all the ikea furniture that would cost $$$ and this guy has basically converted his basement into a mac museum.

Yeah, the shelving unit on the left hand side is reasonably pricey, the shelves the macs are on are part of the bedroom range though, I don't think they cost that much..

Traditionally at Japanese weddings the happy couple are given sex toys. Here is a favorite uncle proudly presenting a strap-on harness...aww.

This guy takes a lot of pics of sexy girls who are asian and even if they're not they look like they are. They look like they belong in a computer game. There's no real nudity but it might be considered NWS.

Mmm. I wouldn't say they were fabulous, so much as that they kind of embody the worst cliches of amateur photography making them sort of the pictorial equivalent of teenage poetry. They look almost like they were created for a comedy series about a pretentious struggling photographer; the stark B+W, the mournful subjects, the laughable titles like - ffs - 'War or suicide?' which appear as the final desperate measure to try and wring some kind of substantial meaning from the images.

Thanks [Smile] . I think that's what I like most about his photos: the eyes. Almost all of his subjects, including himself, have amazing eyes.

The second guy's work reminds me a bit of Wim Wenders, who happens to be one of my favorite photographers.

And yes, I do seem to be out of practice...

Flickr's one of those Web 2.0 mashup things (loads here). I haven't played with it yet, only done that Google Maps one, but I've got a daft idea for a Google Maps/Flickr/YouTube mashup that I might do for a bit of Ajax practice one of these days. It's going to be for illustrating limericks (stay with me) like (random Edward Lear)...

There was a Young Person of Smyrna,
Whose Grandmother threatened to burn her;
But she seized on the cat,
And said, 'Granny, burn that!
You incongruous Old Woman of Smyrna!'

...would have a Google Map of Smyrna, a random Flickr image of 'grandmother' and a random YouTube clip of 'cat'. For example.

I'm hoping that this would come up with such a ridiculous and surreal combination that you'd forget about the limerick itself.

Anyway, there's millions of other mashups here if you've got time to burn, though many of them are even worse than the limerick idea.

Edit: Oh no, my site's gone tit's up! I'll have to look at that later. Bugger.

Edit: It's fixed now. I decided to move to a new host, so I can have ASP.NET, and something went wrong with the transfer. D'oh.

Ages and ages ago a few Seethru people had a photo project thing going on, but it failed rather miserably. We could start another one, if anyone is interested? We could pick a topic and then whoever wants can start taking photos of their interpretation of that topic. Or not.

Just an idea.

I've been up since 4:30am, after going to bed at 12:15am and then waking up at 2:23am, so yeah, don't mind me. Sleep doesn't like me, which is a shame since I like it. *sigh*
