'Akrotiri & Dhekelia' is sort of made up - these are the two British bases in Cyprus. They are what is called Sovereign Base Areas - and are effectively part of the United Kingdom.

I used to live in Akrotiri, hence my mentioning it.

Yeah. Are there any rules here? I guess it's going to be a hell of a lot quicker if we can just ruthlessly strip countries because we don't like their music, or their food, whilst completely ignoring their geographical beauty or historical heritage or ladies.

If so, I'll lop Canada. They can't be allowed to get away with Celine Dion and Alanis Morrissette and Bryan Adams and Geddy Lee. That lot outweighs anything good they may ever have done.

I've been out of practice for a bit. The worse part is the sorts of scrapes I get into, for no reason at all. Basically, I've been applying for work in line with what I'm doing now. Most of them have been through employment agencies. So today, this guy calls me up about a position. The first thing he asks is whether I know much about the company from the link on Monster. To which I reply...'well no'. Then he starts telling me off a bit. I don't understand this 'looking for a job' stuff. Since when has anyone ever had to research a company upon sending a CV and cover letter? Maybe I should see this as a sign that they seem to think they are the ones in a competitive market, and not the other way around. The job sounds fantastic. I'd cycle to work in shorts lined with sandpaper for the position.

Actually, I see my problem now. I have too much cynicism from mailing off CVs. I need to try harder dammit. Harder.

So other than the potential difficulty of finding 10 double-amputee giants (each 66cm wide), I don't see the flaw Ringo mentioned.

The goalkeeper wouldn't have to be quite such a giant, as he's obviously allowed to use his hands.

Kick-off would be easy to achieve by punting the ball directly towards the sideline in order to force a throw-in, thereby allowing the two forwards time to retreat back to the goalmouth.

You could have ten normal players lined up in a wall and the keeper would only have to defend the letterbox shaped 0.7m slot above the wall. Playing against England I imagine he'd probably have to make about 2 saves in 90 minutes.

I think Equatorial Guinea should be thrown out for making the false claim that the equator runs through it. Unlike poor Ecuador, whose claim is just by comparison.

No part of Equatorial Guinea lies on the equator; I guess their tinpot rulers were trying to get one up on both Guinea and Guinea-Bissau, as well as the many guinea fowl that live around the world, including those that may actually live on the equator.

The capital of Senegal, Dakar, is the final destination of the Dakar Rally (formerly known as the Paris-Dakar).

Some of their footballers also have interesting names, like Papa Bouba Diop and N'Diaye Papa Waigo.

I was hoping that Uruguay would have been the last one standing... I like the idea of a country with three U's, as well as the name of its capital city Montevideo.
