Having said that, I did feel quite heartened to read the six page 'perverts!' thread in S+R which was all about porn, featured a feminist poster getting a severe kicking that made her storm off the boards, and was laced with obnoxious, frivolous misogny throughout and I was nowhere in sight. A standing rebuke to everyone who's claimed that I'm somehow "responsible for [the way] things are now".

I think maybe I was just thinking about how I wasn't really in the 'meat' of that thread; that all the things that I'm normally accused of were being done be other people - pedantry, harshness etc. I say 'people', obviously I just mean kovacs. He was dead right about OJ there, though, and also he was right to insist that 'supposedly' and 'presumably' aren't the same thing at all, just like I was right to insist to Rooster (again) that saying 'anyone' isn't the same as saying 'one or two people that only I know'.

Well I can't speak for london, but I honestly had no idea what 'joke' thorn was talking about, nor when it occured in the many years of tmo's history - I must've been absent that week - and I was tempted to post something along the same lines in order to try and find out, so I think it's a bit OTT to immediately jump to calling london "crass" and "cruel" and god knows what else. What's that old saying, never ascribe to malevolence that which can be explained by incompetence?

I find Louche's overreaction more in keeping with General Chat on Handbag rather than bold, cutting-edge old Teemo.
I could guess at the nature of Benny's initial stab at humour, but I too would have been interested in seeing what the brouhaha was all about. OK, so I wouldn't have been so enthusiastic as to shout "link, link, link!!!" but hey.
