Greetings, Sports Fans!

I intend to catch as much of tonight's action as possible. Anyone else? I'll probably be online. If you're following the results then this should be a useful tool. The updates on the POE News boards will probably be faster, better informed, more entertaining and more reliable than the BBC, NBC, CNN or FOX.

I'm feeling pretty good about the returns at the moment.

We'll see whether my prediction is borne out:

The Kerry folks have been preparing for a rally - hopefully a victory rally - at Copely Square tonight. I really want to be there. Who knows. The night is still young...

Are we watching the BBC? I've had to turn it off. Those 3D interactive graphical interfaces were fucking abysmal. Why can't we just list the figures in a table any more! Christ. And quit with the computer generated maps sliding across the floor bullshit.

No BBC here, obviously. CNN on the computer and MSNBC on the TV behind me.

NBC have turned Rockefeller Plaza in New York and built a giant map of the states on the ice skating rink, and are coloring the map red or blue as the states are 'called' for each candidate. Oh, yeah, and they also have red-and-blue colored banners they're running up the side of the NBC building, like fabric bar graphs to indicate the candidates' building electoral college tallies.

I think I might prefer some three-dimensional graphics, actually.

It's a toss-up, and Gore lost New Hampshire four years ago. New Hampshire seems to be populated by two groups - one, a conservative breed of New Englander who have lived there for generations (or who think they have), and secondly, transplants from Massachusetts, who the "natives" resent. Unfortunately, while some of the Massachusetts transplants bring their liberal tendencies with them, there are others who move to New Hampshire for its tax-free, conservative environment - and that, plus the conservatism on social issues, makes it a tough area for any Democrat to capture.

No: tonight, comedy required more effort than I was willing to give it. I did start to watch, but then Six Feet Under came on, which was shit anyway, to be honest, but this isn't interesting at all, so ...

Thanks for explaining New Hampshire, Froop. You're way better than John Snow.

aaahhh, but he made comedy effortless...

Smoking room was shit though, and teachers will never be the same...

Anyway, I'm off to bed, it's all getting too much (boring).

Once again, it looks like it's all come down to Florida.

I'm going to sleep now, but I'm afraid I know what we're going to wake up to in the morning.

This morning I rolled outta bed and immediately switched on the tv. bbc world's laughably amateurish coverage was most entertaining. they had don king on, ffffffs. and some woman from concerned mothers against the 60s or somesuch and a liberal feminista lawyer type. the feminista was kinda hott.

yeah, so this is looking less than hopeful. i am, by the way, rooting for kerry. obviously. will he win ohio? wisconsin cattle: red or blue? will somebody please assassinate peter snow?

and how the fuck can anybody in florida vote for bush after 2000's debacle? i mean, really, what is wrong with you people! c'mon!

I wonder if being a Democrat -- or perhaps just being fucking sane and decent -- now qualifies you for "minority" status in the US.

In fact the one scrap of consolation I can grasp if/when Bush wins again is the fact that Michael Moore, whom I am finding increasingly smug, irritating and hypocritical -- with his dumbed-down "documentary" format, his faux-blue-collar uniform, his personal empire based on sobbing self-righteousness, his consistent reduction of issues to the emotive and the individual -- will not be able to claim that his films and books won it for Kerry.

Kerry's just won a state or something. Ten minutes ago it was:

Bush 254
Kerry 242

Now it's:

Bush 254
Kerry 252
