I don't know. Is the board of directors run by Ents?

I like to have the option of being isolated if I so choose. You don't get that option living in a big city. I sometimes enjoy being separate from people. Sometimes I seek them out.

I'm not sure entirely, but I've got an idea that it would be pretty fucking sweet. Particularly if the mailroom was run by hobbits.

ralph you're just so bland. I don't know if that's the cause or the effect of your woodland existence, but it's just... creepy. You don't seem to have any cultural life at all, and that's what cities do and that's what I like. Cities squeeze people together and culture comes out. You talk about walking in the forest like it's an achievement, it's not, skunks and squirrels and deer do it all the time. Evolve, ralph! Evolve or I'm just going to ignore you. I will! I'll do it!

Ents probably wouldn't have a mailroom - I imagine they'd insist on a paperless office. Otherwise work would be pretty depressing. It'd be like getting all your info printed on parchment of human skin.

I see ralph more like a black hole - having gone supernova in the past after a breakneck red giant of drugs and booze, he's now quietly enjoying life on the edge of an empty galaxy, where not even time itself can escape his metaphysical clutches. He's trying to convince himself of these things as much as he is us. Truth is, nothing will ever fill that hole like booze n drugs.

but that sounds like I'm having a go, which I'm not. When I watch Lynch's The Straight Story I think that one day I could handle that. I could do slow country living. But not in the paranoid and bitter English way, but a more serene and zen like experience, making moonshine and reading classics on a modest ranch as my life slowly grinds to a halt.

This feels to me like joining the Big Brother house and interacting with major names after only watching them. Like being Aisleyne.

But... one can achieve isolation in a big city by going into one's abode and shutting the door.

I was thinking more about the form, but obviously their function is equally as intolerable.

Perhaps if your abode is sound proof. But as I've stated at least one hundred times, I like to spend time outside. Without hearing loud music or traffic or sirens. Or, if I choose, other people.

Their function is just like going " - " though, which I'm sure you did above. Their form is, if anything, unnecessarily... decorative and swirly.

Anyway, I've done my bit for ralph now.

I still don't quite understand why you feel that city-dwellers don't have the choice to head out and experience isolation in the same way you have the choice of going into a city and interacting with people. I live in a city, but a twenty minute cycle ride would take me out of earshot of traffic and other people. So a city dweller has the same choices, but just places the emphaisis differently to you.

Of course city-dwellers have that option. I don't think I ever said they didn't.

See, this is what I don't get. What have you got against the country? I don't hate cities, but after living in New York you couldn't get me to live like that for all the money in the world. I visit cities from time to time. Boston, for example, has some fine museums and a lovely aquarium that my children enjoy. Cities are a nice place to visit. But I know from experience that living in one isn't for me.

What has the country ever done to you Mask? Why do you hate it so? Did you have a bad experience you'd like to share with the forum?

You don't get that option living in a big city. You have to leave the city to get it.
