I have to say that 28 to 38 was easily the happiest decade of my life so far though, so some people here might take consolation from that. (Although I'm not quite sure why me enjoying my 30s would console them in any way. )

It hasn't been though has it. I mean - that's just a pose, because in that time you found someone you wanted to marry, bought a house, and esablished a decently paid career doing something that occasionally allows you to be passionate. I mean, if you turn the whiny goth posturing off for a second and look at things in terms other than how much you can drink and for how long, a lot of it has probably been quite OK hasn't it.
